Guide
How to use MatchPay at an online casino
A MatchPay deposit is a purchase from another player, and a MatchPay withdrawal is a sale to one. Once that clicks, the rest of the process makes sense. This guide walks through both, using the instructions Bovada, Ignition, Slots.lv and Cafe Casino publish and MatchPay’s own FAQ.

Before you start
You need three things in place before a MatchPay trade can happen:
- An account at a casino that offers MatchPay, opened in a state its terms allow.
- A phone that can receive SMS. MatchPay validates your number at sign-up and texts you when a match is found.
- At least one payment app that is already set up and funded: PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, Chime or Cash App. The casinos all say the more apps you add, the better your chance of a match.
Check your payment app’s terms first
PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy requires pre-approval to accept payments for gambling, and Venmo’s user agreement prohibits “restricted transactions” under Federal Reserve Regulation GG. Using these apps for MatchPay trades may break their rules, and an app can limit or close an account that does. That risk is yours, not the casino’s.
Step 1: create your MatchPay ID from the casino cashier
You do not sign up at a MatchPay website. The casinos have you start from their own cashier, and the steps on Bovada, Ignition and Slots.lv are nearly word for word the same:
- Open the cashier and choose MatchPay.Click the profile (silhouette) icon, then Deposit, then MatchPay, then “Join Now”.
- Enter your details.First and last name, date of birth, a case-sensitive username and the email address registered to your casino account.
- Add and verify your phone.MatchPay sends an SMS code. It also uses this number to text you when a trade partner is found.
- Set a case-sensitive password and activate.Click the link in MatchPay’s email (check spam). Your accounts are now linked.
Choose the username carefully: MatchPay’s FAQ says it does not allow users to change their MatchPay ID “for security reasons.”
Cafe Casino works differently. Its sign-up page says a username is generated and assigned for you, you tick two boxes to let Cafe Casino pass your registration details to MatchPay, and if you already have a MatchPay account from another site you continue with that existing username.
Step 2: make a MatchPay deposit (you are buying credit)
In MatchPay’s terms a deposit is an Order. You ask to buy a set amount of credit, MatchPay finds a player who wants to sell that much, and you pay them directly.
- Start a deposit and pick MatchPay.Profile icon, Deposit, MatchPay. Enter your MatchPay ID if asked, and the amount.
- Log in to MatchPay and create the Order. If your MatchPay balance does not already cover the amount, click “Create Order”, confirm the amount and select every payment app you can pay with, then “Continue”. You can edit the Order (pencil) or cancel it (x) until a match is accepted.
- Wait for a seller.MatchPay notifies a seller by email or text and “will cycle through your matches until a seller responds,” in Bovada’s words.
- Pay the seller, inside the trade.Send exactly the trade amount, with the app the trade names, to the handle shown in the MatchPay trade chat. Never pay details a user sends you anywhere else.
- The seller confirms, and the credit lands. When they confirm receipt, the trade completes and the credit is converted to US dollars in your casino balance.

Two things the deposit pages mention almost in passing: depending on your account status you may get only three MatchPay deposit attempts a day, and if no match turns up you will be prompted to add payment methods or go back and change the amount.
Step 3: make a MatchPay withdrawal (you are selling credit)
A withdrawal is an Offer. The casino takes the amount out of your balance, approves it, and holds it in reserve as MatchPay credit. You then sell all or part of it to other players.
- Request a MatchPay withdrawal.Profile icon, Withdraw, MatchPay. The money leaves your casino balance now, before any trade.
- Create an Offer in MatchPay.Enter how much credit to sell and select every app you can receive on, then “Create”. You can edit the Offer (pencil), or cancel it (x) to return the credit to your available MatchPay balance.
- Accept a buyer within 5 minutes. The first potential buyer is notified, and MatchPay keeps cycling until one responds.
- Let the buyer pay you. They have 8 minutes to send the money and mark it sent.
- Confirm only money you can actually use.You have 5 minutes to confirm. “Pending” or “Processing” in your app means it has not arrived. Once you confirm, the credit is theirs.
Your MatchPay credit cannot be sent to a bank account. All four casinos and MatchPay itself say so: the only way out is another trade, or a redeposit back to the casino.
The trade clock
Once a match is found, every step runs on a timer. These are the times in MatchPay’s FAQ:
The last bar is drawn shorter than its 20 minutes so the first three stay readable.
If nothing is shared or confirmed when the timer runs out, the trade is cancelled automatically. But if you have already paid and the other side is slow, the best-practices pages say the “I have sent the credits” and “I have received credits” buttons stay clickable after time runs out, and MatchPay asks you to allow an extra 20 minutes before opening a dispute.
MatchPay limits at each casino
MatchPay’s own trade limit is $10 to $2,000. Each casino adds its own rules on top, mostly about how often you can withdraw.
| Casino | Deposit | Withdrawal | How often | Stated withdrawal time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bovada | $10 to $2,000 | $10 to $2,000 | 2 per calendar day | Instant |
| Ignition | Not listed in its deposit table | $10 to $2,000 | 2 per calendar day | Instant |
| Slots.lv | $10 to $2,000 | $10 to $2,000 | 2 per 24 hours | Instant (after approval) |
| Cafe Casino | $10 to $2,000 | $10 to $2,000 | 2 per 24 hours | Instant (after approval) |

The withdrawal pages explain how “two a day” works in practice: you can receive at most two MatchPay withdrawals within 24 hours of your first request, and a third request stays pending until those 24 hours have passed.
Be careful with the older numbers still floating around. Every casino’s “best practices” page says “the minimum amount to trade is $20 and the maximum is $1000,” which contradicts both MatchPay’s FAQ and the casinos’ own limits tables. If the difference matters to you, your cashier will show the real figure.
Fees
The casinos say they charge nothing for MatchPay. Bovada calls every MatchPay transaction “free,” Ignition, Slots.lv and Cafe Casino all say MatchPay transactions are “100% free,” and the Slots.lv and Cafe Casino withdrawal tables put the MatchPay fee at “None.”
That does not mean a trade costs nothing. Watch for:
- Fees your payment app charges for some transfers, such as card-funded payments or instant cash-outs.
- The cost of losing buyer protection: MatchPay tells PayPal users to send as “Friends & Family” or “Gift,” never “Goods & Services,” because those payments are held. A personal payment has no purchase protection.
- Wagering rules. Bovada, Slots.lv and Cafe Casino say all deposits must be wagered in full before winnings can be withdrawn, or the withdrawal may be cancelled. Slots.lv and Cafe Casino name MatchPay as an exception when you redeposit part or all of an earlier withdrawal.
How long a MatchPay trade takes
The casinos describe MatchPay as “instant,” and in a narrow sense it is: once a match is accepted the whole trade has to finish within about 18 minutes. What the clock does not include:
- Finding a match. A match is not guaranteed. Ignition says that if none is found you will be asked to add trading methods or change the amount.
- Withdrawal approval. The withdrawal pages say the credit is held in reserve “once approved,” and Slots.lv’s and Cafe Casino’s tables list their timeframe as after approval.
- Zelle’s calendar. Bovada says Zelle trades can only be processed on business days, and one started at a weekend or on a holiday completes the next business day.
- Disputes. If something goes wrong, MatchPay support decides in roughly 48 hours.
App-by-app rules MatchPay gives
These come from the best-practices list the casinos say was “provided by MatchPay,” and from MatchPay’s trade tips.
| App | MatchPay’s rule |
|---|---|
| PayPal | Send as “Friends & Family” or “Gift,” never “Goods & Services.” If a payment shows “Pending,” cancel it and resend. |
| Zelle | “Pending” or “Processing” means the other side has not received it. Instant only Monday to Friday; weekend trades complete on Monday. |
| Apple Pay | Do not complete a trade while the payment is pending; make sure it has been accepted first. |
| Chime | “Pending” or “Processing” means the other side has not received it. |
| Venmo, Cash App | Covered by the general rule: do not confirm until the money is available to use. Both appear in MatchPay’s dispute-document list. |
Troubleshooting a MatchPay casino trade
No match is found
Add more payment apps to the Order or Offer, or change the amount. The casinos all say MatchPay may not find a match and that you will be prompted to do one of those things.
You paid, but the seller has not confirmed
Wait the extra 20 minutes MatchPay suggests, then click “Report a Problem” in the trade chat. Do not open a dispute with your payment app first: MatchPay says it cannot resolve a case until the app’s dispute is closed, so doing that delays you.
The other player asks you to pay a different handle or app
Cancel the trade. MatchPay’s FAQ is blunt: never send money if the details were not shared in the trade chat window. Moderators “are never present” in trades, so anyone claiming to be one is not.
You confirmed “sent” by mistake
Write “please cancel, credits have not been sent” in the trade chat, which is the wording the best-practices pages suggest.
You sent money to an account that is not on MatchPay
MatchPay says it cannot help; you have to take it up with your payment app. This is why the handle in the trade chat is the only one to use.
Your deposit button stops working for the day
Depending on your account status, the casinos may limit MatchPay deposits to three attempts a day. Try again the next day, or ask the casino’s support what applies to your account.
Your third withdrawal is stuck
That is the two-per-24-hours rule. A third request stays pending until 24 hours after your first MatchPay withdrawal.
You want to move a MatchPay withdrawal back into the casino
You can, if at least $20 sits in your MatchPay “Available Credit.” Start a MatchPay deposit, enter the amount and log in to MatchPay; the deposit is taken from your MatchPay balance with no new trade. Bovada, Ignition, Slots.lv and Cafe Casino all publish this.
A dispute goes to MatchPay
Either side can click “Report a Problem.” The trade and chat transcript go to MatchPay support, which decides “at the sole discretion of the MatchPay support team” in about 48 hours, and “all resolutions are final.” For a dispute or chargeback, MatchPay may ask for a screenshot of your full app activity from the day before the trade to the present, plus the transaction itself, in JPEG or PDF with the app’s logo and URL visible.
A safety checklist for every trade
- Use only the handle and app shown in the MatchPay trade chat.
- Open the payment app itself to check a payment. Never trust a screenshot.
- Never confirm while a payment says pending or processing.
- Never share your MatchPay password; MatchPay says its staff will never ask for it.
- Keep every trade, message and payment inside MatchPay.
- Trade only what you can afford to lose, on a site that accepts players from where you are.
